We teach shooting like a martial art, because it is, and the concepts needed to survive are the same in both armed and unarmed combat:

Weapon: YOU are the Weapon, not the gun! All tools can be extensions of you!

Initiative: The winner of a fight is the one who ends with the Initiative.

Damage: Combat accuracy, causing mass trauma ends fights quickly.

Torque: Circular movement in unarmed. Flanking an enemy..

Head: Controlling or destroying the Head and Neck eliminates the threat.

Six: CHECK YOUR 6!  SIXuational Awareness is THE critical defense skill.

Chief Instructor Brian Soule
Soule (Easy 6)

Brian Soule was an Army Engineer Officer for just under ten years; he separated from Active Duty as a senior Captain after commanding Easy (Engineer) Company, 1-68 Armor Battalion (CAB) in the 4th Infantry Division.  He deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom three times, the last time as a Company Commander during the Sadr City Uprising of 2008.  He holds a Masters Degree in Public Administration with a Certification in Homeland Defense and a Bachelors in Political Science and Philosophy.  He is a Certified Instructor with the NRA and has studied and instructed several styles of martial arts in several duty stations around the world including American Kenpo, Chinese (5 Animal) Kenpo, Ninjitsu, Japanese Jiujitsu and Tae Kwon Do.
